YTE 501 | Research Methods and Ethics in Construction Technology
This course focuses on examining the research process in the field of construction technologies, reviewing fundamental research methods, and teaching the techniques necessary for researchers to conduct studies on a specific topic. These techniques include formulating research questions, developing hypotheses, understanding and accepting phenomena, measuring, collecting data, analyzing data, evaluating/interpreting findings, and writing research reports. The course also covers the methodological process of scientific research, the completion of research projects, the publication of research findings, and issues related to publication ethics.
YTE 505 | Construction Project I
Within the scope of the application project, the course content and coverage include: the investigation and comparison of alternatives in terms of spatial organization, structural system, and environmental control; the examination of the design in terms of building materials, building components, and construction technologies; the development of the design in compliance with the current building regulations in Türkiye (such as the earthquake code, thermal insulation regulation, and noise control regulation); the integration of all requirements related to building subsystems into the design; and the analysis of principles through both theoretical and practical studies.
YTE 506 | Construction Project II
Within the scope of this course, the definition and requirements of high-performance buildings are introduced. The course discusses how building performance should be addressed for both existing buildings and new designs, and presents tools, methods, and calculation-based software for performance evaluation. It also aims to develop students’ practical skills in managing projects using these methods and techniques. In this regard, the course includes practical applications as well.
YTE 590 | Seminar
In this course, students conduct original research on a specific topic within their field of study, report this research, and present it orally at the end of the semester. By means of this report and oral presentation, it is ensured that the basic principles of scientific rules, spelling, and presentation rules that the student should follow in his/her thesis study are conveyed. The course involves independent study under the guidance of an advisor, focusing on: • Identifying a research topic • Conducting a comprehensive literature review • Preparing a seminar report • Delivering a seminar presentation • Evaluating feedback and finalizing the report.
YTE 592 | Project
This course is compulsory for students enrolled in the non-thesis option and focuses on guiding graduate students in the field of Building Technologies. Students are expected to either develop a project in collaboration with their academic advisor or conduct scientific research on a selected topic and present their findings. Throughout the course, a building, construction, or design-related problem is identified by considering the current requirements of construction technologies. Within the scope of the defined problem, students are expected to demonstrate their abilities in research, synthesis, and critical evaluation.
